Hook, Vivian Edward
Collection relating to 6293 Sapper (Spr) Vivian Edward Hook, who served with the 1st Field Company Engineers from his enlistment in 1915 until he returned to Australian in 1919. Comprises two handwritten diaries kept by Spr Hook from March 1916 until August 1917, a digital file containing a typed transcript of the diaries, and a small New Testament belonging to Spr Hook with an inscription 'To Viv, from Lill. On the eve of his departure for the front 21/3/16'. Collection also includes an 11 foolscap page typed account titled 'A short account of the formation of the 1st Field Coy. Engineers (1914-1918), detailing their movements from embarkation in Sydney on 18 October 1914 until the final draft left for mobilisation from Belgium in May 1919. The writer of the account is unknown. A hard copy of typescript of Spr Hook's diaries has been included in the collection for access purposes.
