Description

Studio portrait of 3231 Henry Aslett of Brighton, Victoria. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked at Adelaide with the 10th Reinforcements to the 10th Battalion aboard HMAT Benalla (A24) on 27 October 1915. Pte Aslett joined his unit in Egypt, and was transferred to 50th Battalion in February 1916. He went to France with his new unit in June of the same year. During the fighting at Mouquet Farm he was initially declared Wounded and Missing on 16 August 1916. An enquiry convened in June 1917 then formally declared him Killed in Action. He was 25 years of age.
