Studio portrait of SX8328 Private (Pte) Harry Davis, 2/48 Battalion. Pte Davis, a station hand from Broken Hill, NSW, enlisted on 3 June 1940, aged 20. He was killed in action on 31 October 1942, during the battle of El Alamein. The battalion lost 199 officers and men killed or wounded of the 292 engaged in that night's attack.
