Description

Original grave marker of 1723 Private (Pte) Gerald Walshe Howling, 23rd Battalion, in the Vignacourt cemetery. Pte Howling, a draper from Geelong, Vic, embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes (A64) on 16 July 1915. He was killed in action on 23 May 1918, aged 30. (See DA09391 for portrait)
