Description

A wooden hammer (size 210 x 72mm) used to strike the shell case gong RELAWM20443.001. It is made from the same wood as the temple columns and base RELAWM20443.002. The hammer has a small metal ring screwed into the handle and was originally suspended from a hook underneath one end of the roof.

History / Summary

This wooden hammer was crafted by Sergeant Stanley Pretty, 2/33 Battalion. Pretty was born in London in 1911 and enlisted in the Second AIF in Sydney on 16 September 1941. He was discharged on 18 December 1945.
