Collection relating to the Second World War service of 109150 Corporal Nita Mary Hayes (later Wilson), Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF), c. 1943-1979.

Collection consists of one notebook containing notes written by Corporal Nita Hayes, probably during her induction to the WAAAF in c. April 1943.

Nita’s notes are on subjects including WAAAF ranks and badges, secrecy and security, Royal Australian Air Force organisation, correct lifting techniques, the Industrial Revolution, terms of enrolment and discharge, leave, orderly room procedures, postings and clearances, uniformity in dress, abbreviations, hotels in Melbourne and Sydney, the value of drill and personal training, illness and injuries, procedures for absences, identifying different types of aircraft, and chemical warfare.

This notebook also contains detailed medical notes made by Nita in 1979.
