Description
Sir Richard Williams KBE CB DSO stands by the CS.5 Deperdussin training aircraft on loan from the Australian War Memorial to the RAAF Museum at Point Cook. This aircraft was one of two Deperdussin aircraft used for training by the Australian Flying Corps before and during the First World War. In 1920 it was transferred to the Australian War Museum, as the Australian War Memorial was then known. As a lieutenant Richards attended the first course at the Central Flying School in August 1914.
