Description

Letters relating to the First World War service of Captain Herbert Franklin Curnow, 22nd Battalion. The letters were written by Herbert Curnow to his friend and former colleague in the Department of Defence Records Section, Mr Frank Cummings between 21 April 1915 and 24 March 1916. In the letters, Herbert Curnow explains his duties in Egypt, the 'sit-down' style of warfare, describes the voyage to France and also attempts to assist in locating a file at the Department of Defence.
