Description
Diary relating to the First World War service of 1764 Private John Kingsley Gammage, 1st Battalion. The diary, written between 10 April 1915 and 26 February [1916], contains regular entries covering his embarkation from Australia, the passage to Egypt and service at Gallipoli, in particular the fighting at Lone Pine. It includes comments on the quality of officers, discomfort experienced, Anglo-Australian relations and the eventual evacuation of the Peninsula.
