Service dress tunic: Lieutenant Colonel Henry Venn King, Queensland Mounted Infantry
Drab khaki wool tunic with crimson stand collar, shoulder straps and pointed cuffs. The upper edge of collar is decorated with gold lace and braided eyes and the lower edge with gold Russia braid. There are Queensland Mounted Infantry badges at each collar edge. The shoulder straps, edged with gold Russia braid, bear gilded metal rank insignia for lieutenant colonel, brass QMI titles and small Queensland Defence Forces buttons. Each cuff is decorated with two chevrons of gold lace, Russia braided eyes with an Austrian knot above and crowsfoot and braided eyes below for the rank of lieutenant colonel. The pleated breast pockets with three pointed flaps are fastened with small gilt Queensland Defence Forces buttons. The five gilt Queensland Defence Forces buttons at the front are made by 'H W MARTIN LONDON' and 'HEBBERT & Co. LONDON'. The skirt is rounded at the front opening and has two open vents at the back. There is a medal ribbon on the left breast for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee Medal. The tunic is lined with a partially quilted olive green cotton and wool mixture with a concealed pocket at the left breast. The sleeves are lined with white cotton twill and grey sateen fabric. A woven manufacturer's label inside the neck reads 'J. BAILEY. BRISBANE'. A coarse khaki wool repair is hand stitched to a section of the collar lining. There is a dance card and pencil with silk tassel inside the breast pocket. The card has been embossed on the front with the word 'PRO-GRAMME' and has been filled out inside with names in ink and an extra slip of card with the wearer's name, rank and unit.
