Page 21 of 60; three photographs from the album created by John Thomas Weatherlake of photographs taken on voyages made by HMS Pearl from 1870 to 1880. Commodore John Graham Goodenough's grave marker in the cemetery of St Thomas's Church, North Sydney, 1876. Goodenough, Commodore of the Australian station, was the captain of HMS Pearl from 1873 to 1875 when he sailed the Pearl on a voyage of peace to Fiji and the South Pacific. Goodenough and his crew were attacked by natives in the New Hebrides island of Santa Cruz in 1875 and Goodenough subsequently died at sea from wounds received by an arrow.
