Lee-Enfield No 5 Mk I Rifle
Description
Lee-Enfield No 5 Mk I bolt action rifle. Receiver engraved No 5MKI ROF(F) over 5/45 N1879. It has a wooden butt with a rubber pad and fore end. The muzzle has a cone flash hider and a bayonet lug. The sights are a front post and an adjustable aperture leaf rear.
History / Summary
This type of shortened and lightened rifle was commonly referred to as the Jungle Carbine. They were issued to Australian troops serving in the Malayan Emergency.
