Description

Black wool bunting flag with a white cotton duck hoist threaded through with cotton rope. There is a loop at each end of the rope to allow the flag to be attached to halyards on a flag pole. The upper left canton bears a white cotton 'II' appliquéd with machine zig zag stitch. In the centre, appliquéd using the same stitch, is a white, brown and green cotton badge of the Royal Australian Regiment. Additional details and lettering 'DUTY FIRST ROYAL AUSTRALIAN REGIMENT' have been added with machine zig zag. A printed cotton Queen's crown has been appliquéd above the head of the kangaroo and between the crossed rifles. Both the numeral and the badge appear on both sides of the flag. However, the lettering on the back of the flag appears in mirror image.
