Skids on the Highlands
Description
Australian Forestry Units working in Dumfriesshire in Scotland move felled and cut wood which are then loaded onto trucks and transported to the saw mill for further processing. The use of skids or parallel wooden panels to assist in the leaverage of logs on the steep mountain side in the Scottish Highlands. The men working on the movement of the logs are members of the Australian Forestry Unit and workers from Honuduras who have been attached to the Australian Unit to contribute manual labour to the war effort.
