Description

A group composition of Australian and British Honduran forestry men felling trees in the remote forests of Scotland during the Second World War. Hawkins heard about the important, but largely unknown, work being done by the Australian Forestry Units in Scotland. She took two weeks' leave from her Public Relations position at RAAF Headquarters in London, to witness and document their work. In later correspondence with the Australian War Memorial, she writes admiringly of these men: "...there was no way to suggest the amazing precision and perfection of every movement - the speed with which everything was started and finished before I could catch enough of the action."
