Omar (cartoon for mural)
Description
This drawing is one of two works that A Henry Fullwood submitted for the State Library of Victoria mural competition held in 1922. The mural design was one of 13 entrants by artists including Hilda Rix Nicholas, George Lambert, Napier Waller, H Septimus Power and John Longstaff. H Septimus Power was the winner of the mural competition and George Lambert was placed second. A Henry Fullwood's mural features soldiers on horses, nurses and medical vehicles. It traces Australia's preparation in Egypt, the landing at Gallipoli and involvement in battles on the Western Front.
