Cartoon for transport mural (Road transport)
Description
Depicts a mural design of a couple in early 19th century costume, standing in front of a decorated carriage. The design was originally commissioned as a decoaration for the Australian Air Base at Lincoln, Great Britain. The air base was RAF Binbrook from which 460 Squadron (RAAF) flew Lancasters during the Second World War. This mural design is one of 72 by Merial Joyce Millen, part of a series of 'decorations showing transport by land, sea and air' intended for murals to decorate the messes and buildings at the air base.
