RAN (Australian sailor)
Description
Depicts an unidentified naval rating, from the Second World War, in uniform. Work was published in 'The Australasian', 21 November 1942, p13. The caption read: "'RAN!' Napier Waller here presents a striking representation of a member of our least publicised, but efficient and ubiquitous, fighting arm - the Royal Australian Navy. The Navy has done a remarkable job in the present war, and, though its losses have been heavy, its spirit is undaunted, and its strength undiminished. This drawing was made from life at a naval depot in Australia."
