Description
Portrait depicting Lieutenant John Carr Ewen, MC, DCM, MM, enlisted in AIF in 1915 and arrived in France in 1916. His subsequent service as a gunner gained him the MM at Pozieres in August 1916, and the DCM as a sergeant at Bullecourt in April 1917. Commissioned in November 1917 he was awarded the MC for his work as a forward observation officer near Herleville in August 1918 during the final offensive.
