Description
1880s; uniforms, rifle, horse; 1st Battalion (West ) n Infantry; foreground: marching soldier with rifle, background: mounted officer and Bugler on foot. Infantry uniforms were based on British models. Henry Richard S Bunnett (1845-1910) was a British artist who was in Canada 1885-1889 and produced paintings and illustrations for publications. This image was reproduced in Walter Richard's, 'Her Majesty's Army', volume 8, Her Majesty's Indian and Colonial Forces. Published J.S. Virtue & Co., London.
