Flying Officer Wynton Thorpe
Description
Flying Officer Wynton Powell Thorpe, depicted here aged 22 served with the Royal Australian Air Force, Coastal Command, No 10 Squadron, he was the RAAF Liaison with United States 8th Air Force. On 13 November 1942, Thorpe suffered lacerations to his right leg and foot during air operations which required his hospitalisation at the Royal Naval Hospital in Plymouth which led to his repatriation to Australia.
