HMAS Manoora sinking merchant vessel Romolo
Description
Two days after Italy entered the war, Australia struck her first blow against the new enemy on the high seas. On that day the armed Merchant Cruiser HMAS "Manoora" intercepted the Italian merchant vessel "Romolo" in the Pacific Ocean. The Italians avoided capture by scuttling.
