Loading supplies at Esani
Description
Camel section loading supplies and water at Esani, 1930. This is third in a series of eight paintings accompanying the Palestine dioramas. The series illustrates the Egyptian Labour Corps and the Camel Transport Corps transporting supplies (food, water, clothing and medical supplies) from Deir el Belah on the Mediterranean coast of Palestine through the desert to the troops in battle. From the wells at Esani more than 2,000 camels daily followed the fighting force with precious water for the men.
