Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
Description
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Queen Consort, (later Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother), wearing a diamond tiara, pearl necklace, evening dress and holding a fan, badges of orders are on her left shoulder. Elizabeth married Prince Albert, Duke of York (later George VI) on April 26, 1923 and she became Queen (consort) December 12, 1936. Quinn was granted sittings in the 1930s and attended the coronation in 1936 and most probably adapted the portrait in Melbourne in 1937 to reflect the Queen's new status following the coronation.
