Description

Nos 2, 3 and 4 Squadrons of the Australian Flying Corps under operational conditions in France. Preparations for bombing mission; swinging compass and bombing up an RE8 aircraft of No 3 Squadron; Sopwith Camel fighters of No 4 Sqn at Clamerais, France perform aerobatics. SE5 fighters of 'C' flight, 2 Squadron at Savy, France, take off from aerodrome. Lieutenant R C Nelson and Lieutenant V G M Sheppard, 4 Squadron pilots. The visit to the AFC wing at Minchampton and Leighterton aerodromes, Gloucestershire by General Birdwood during March 1919. Aerial machine gun training, propeller swinging and gun loading practice at Minchhampton for AFC cadets. No 1 Squadron AFC operational at Mejdel, Palestine area, January 1918. Squadron aircraft preparing for their daily missions. Bombing up Martinsyde with Hale's incendiary bombs. Lieutenant Colonel R Williams DSO commanding officer issues final orders before take off for a flight to Jaffa and the Judean Hills towards Jerusalem.
