German concentration camps: Holsworthy, Trial Bay, Berrima, Molonglo
Description
Scenes of Holsworthy and Molonglo internment camps for enemy aliens taken in the summer of 1918-19 by Bert Ive. Also included is earlier footage from Trial Bay and Berrima. The purpose of the film was to show the contrast between the conditions enjoyed by German internees in Australian camps and film of conditions of returning British POWs in Germany. However by August 1919 it was feared that public distribution might be counter productive to the war loan appeal and it was recommended that it be handed over to the Australian War Museum authority.
