Townsville raid: bomb disposal
Description
Townsville, Queensland, 28 July 1942. Following a report by Air Raid Wardens from South Townsville that one of the bombs in the first raid on Townsville had not exploded the 2nd and 3rd sections of a Bomb Disposal Company under QX38303 Lieutenant Colin Ian Gladstone Huxley, with QX29768 Sapper Frederick Van Doorn, Sapper Mens and Corporal Smith, investigated the report. The six bombs were dropped on the east side of the harbour.
