Description

Native carriers and the difficult conditions of weather and terrain they had to overcome to supply members of the AIF and New Guinea Volunteer Rifles, (NGVR) known as Kanga Force. Supplies are brought from Port Moresby in the 60 ton trading Schooner "Royal Endeavour" to the mouth of the Lakekamu River where they are transhipped to a shallow draught launch to Clear Sand-Spit in the mouth of the river, then by canoe up river to Bulldog Camp, then by native carriers to Wau. Identified personnel are: Corporal Dick Paul and Vic Helton.
