Okinawa, Atsugi, Yokohama during first stage of occupation of Japan
Description
Scenes 1 to 8 are shots of Kaden airstrip, Okinawa, showing vast numbers of USAAF C54 Skymaster aircraft preparing to leave for Japan on the first stage of the Allied occupation. Scenes 9 to 54 are at Atsugi airport showing arrival and departure of American troops and general airport scenes. The American 11th Airborne Division moved from airport to Yokohama to take over the Grand Hotel for use as General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters. The General arrived on the afternoon of the occupation day. Australian correspondent J.A. O'Connor, Argus and British correspondent H. Keyes, London Daily Express are identified.
