Victory suit
Description
A War Organisation of Industry production. Directed by Ralph Smart, commentary by Harry Dearth. Sydney, Mr Dedman arrives wearing the first victory suit made in Australia. He is interviewed in his office and asked why the victory suit has been introduced. Mr Dedman demonstrates the suit its features being: no vest, no cuffs, no double breast, no buttons on the cuffs. The idea is to save on material and labour time thus contributing to the war effort. The public is urged not to buy clothes unless absolutely necessary. Also shows victory sports coats, overcoats; cardigans are out and plain socks are in. (See also film F01551 Fashions for victory for women's clothes.)
