Invasion training Western Australia
Description
Point Walter, Western Australia, 6-7 February 1943. Troops of the 6th Australian Infantry Battalion on invasion training course. Troops climb down scramble-nets slung over timber frame (mock up of ship's side) into pontoons where they are towed towards shore by naval auxiliary patrol motor launch. Trucks and artillery of the 10th Field Regiment are also towed towards shore then rowed on pontoons and landed. Smoke-screen and explosive charges are detonated on beach to condition troops to landing conditions. This film was photographed during exercises at 3rd Australian Corps combined Operation Training Centre.
