2/11th Field Regiment third anniversary beach carnival
Description
On Thursday 15 July 1943 the 2/11th Australian Army Field Regiment held a beach carnival at Mindil Beach to celebrate its third anniversary. The programme consisted of 18 various events. Sub-unit Cup and individual prizes were distributed by Colonel F N Nurse at the conclusion of the day's events. Shows wood-chopping, running, tug-of-war, pet parade, Siamese triplet race (centre man was an officer and had to run backwards), cock fighting; a 'tote' was also run for troops to bet on the events.
