Rendering mines safe
Description
Tree Point, Port Keats, Darwin area, 10 May 1943. Royal Australian Naval RMS squad from HMAS Melville were transported to Tree Point on HMAS Southern Cross to render a Japanese naval mine safe. Shows the party wading ashore with equipment, RMS officer inspecting mine, rendering fuse safe, removing cover plate, packing mine with firewood to burn out explosive burning, squad having cup of tea.
