Units of the Australian and American navies take part in the pre-landing bombardment of Cape Gloucester, New Britain, under the flag of Rear Admiral Victor A C Crutchley, DSC commanding Her Majesty's Australian Squadron, from HMAS Australia. All the following shots were taken from HMAS Arunta. Identified ships: HMAS Shropshire, HMAS Australia, HMAS Warramunga. Identified personnel: Commander A E Buchanan, Surgeon Lieutenant Shane Watson DSC, RANVR.
