Description
Pakanbaru POW Camp, Sumatra 15 September 1945. Sign No 1 Allied Hospital. Emaciated men cooking rice. The sick are on stretchers and are carried by lorries to airfield and are loaded aboard ambulance C-47 Dakota aircraft. Identified personnel: Sister Margaret Braid of Perth RAAF Nursing Service No 2 Medical Air Evacuation Transport Unit seen tending to sick and helping to load sick POWs into Douglas C-47 Dakota transport aircraft and taking details of POWs being evacuated..
