Dresden (Ops 257)
RAF Bomber Command operational film No 257. Coverage of the raid on Dresden, Germany on the night of 13-14 February 1945 by seven hundred and seventy three Lancaster heavy bombers of Nos 1, 3 and 5 Groups. A total of two thousand six hundred and fifty tons of bombs and incendaries were dropped in the night raid and caused massive damage to the city and very high civilian casualities. The night raid was followed by a daylight raid on the 14 February by three hundred and ten USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress bombers. Shows Lancasters of Nos 463 and 467 Squadrons RAAF taxi on the runway at RAF Station Waddington, Lincolnshire prior to take off. Lancasters taking off.
