Description

Chief of Air Staff (CAS) O31 Air Vice Marshal (AVM) George Jones CB, CBE, DFC visits Leyte and Mindoro, Philippines. Aerial shots of islands and convoys. On arrival the CAS is met by O34 Air Commodore Ulex Edward Ewart. Scenes of RAAF personnel playing Volley Ball, old Spanish fort in the background. The fort is used as a listening post by RAAF Radio Section. Shots of Tolosa village Leyte. RAAF personnel go sightseeing. RAAF personnel with monkey. Atmospheric shots show happy Philippinos. Girls winnowing rice. Small boys with a novel water cart. Aerial shots, en route to Mindoro, Kittyhawk escort aircraft, convoys etc, aerial shots Mindoro. CAS arrives at Mindoro to see Works Unit, 3 Airfield Construction Squadron met by the Commanding Officer 264241 Squadron Leadrer Alan Douglas Bouch and shown a parade of vehicles, bulldozers and graders.
