RAAF helicopter helps fight fires
Description
Item covers two fire-fighting techniques. First, a RAAF Iroqouis helicopter air-lifts fire-fighting equipment and crew to a burning Vampire jet which was supposed to have crashed near the base, but away from access roads. The second demonstration shows down-draught of a helicopter rotor being used to blow heat, flames and smoke away from the fire fighting crew, thus permitting them to carry out their duties more efficiently and in greater safety.
