Technicians from No 37 Squadron RAAF win awards for Hercules modification
Five RAAF maintenance technicians have earned themselves a special award from the Lockheed Company of America for a modification to RAAF Hercules transport aircraft. The men, all from No. 37 Squadron, RAAF base, Richmond, were each presented with a golden srewdriver and a certificate by Mr Chic Postier, technical representative of the Lockheed Company in Australia. This is the first time that the award has been made outside the United States. The modification which won the award involved re-designing and re-positioning an oxygen outlet point in the Hercules. This item shows the presentation to the four of the five men; W/O Bill Sams, of Beecraft, NSW; Flt Sgt Tom Hall of Blacktown, NSW; Sgt Max Billett, of Gosford, NSW; Flt Sgt Col Lucas, of Doonside NSW the fifth member, Flt Lieut Gordon Leo, 37 Squadron Engineering Officer, was not present at the presentation.
