Radar unit supports Mirages in defence exercise
Description
An exercise held to test the defence system of the Darwin area. Supplementing the Mirages sophisticated radar and navigation equipment is a complex ground radar system which increases the aircraft's capability. Radar and Mirage pilots had to seek out and destroy raiding RAF Vulcan bombers flown out from Britain for the exercise. This item shows ground radar in operation; Mirage taking off and landings.
