Evacuation of wounded by air
Description
This item shows a wounded Australian soldier in the thick of bush country. An Iroquois helicopter of No. 9 Squadron, RAAF lowers a stretcher and winches the wounded soldier from the bush. The wounded soldier is transported to an army hospital for attention. Wounded are then transported on a special air conditioned bus to the airport from where they travel back to Australia in Hercules aircraft of Nos 36 and 37 Squadrons.
