Orphans new home
Description
More than 200 Vietnamese orphans, ranging in age from a few months to 16 years, will have a new home soon, thanks mainly to the work of a RAAF chaplain, O222956 Chaplain John Edward Grannall who conceived the idea of building as a civil aid project, 10 separate family units on the hillside site, which had been donated by the South Vietnamese government. The orphans are being cared for by Vietnamese Roman Catholic nuns at the An Phong (Winds of peace) orphanage at Vung Tau. Father John made a last visit to the orphanage before his return to Australia. The work will be carried on by the RAAF men, led by their new chaplain. Chaplain Rodger Boerth, from Mount Gambier South Australia inspects work with Father John.
