War graves party leaves Bangkok for Burma Thailand Railway
Description
On 22 September 1945, a party of sixteen, thirteen of whom had been POWs of the Japanese, left Bangkok by Japanese truck for Nakom Paton where they transferred to two trains and set out for the start of the Burma-Thailand Railway, south of Moulmein. The object of the trip was to locate British and Australian POW graves and to endeavour to recover film and other records which had been buried by the POWs in or near the jungle camp. Captain (Capt) A White, 2/26 Australian Infantry Battalion and Capt R K A Bruce, Federated Malay States Volunteer, who are leading the party.
