Troops demonstrate against lack of shipping
Description
Some one thousand five hundred men marched from the General Details Depot to HQ 1 Australian Base Sub Area, Morotai, to voice a complaint to senior officers regarding certain statements made in the press concerning shipping facilities that were to be made available for returning troops from the islands to Australia. A committee was formed to present some twenty questions and also a request that a signal be despatched to the Minister for the Army asking for a definite statement to be made. Colonel R E Wade, Senior Staff Officer, Advanced HQ, AMF, answered the committee's queries.
