King's Birthday parade, 1947
A parade was held on the Plaza to celebrate the King's birthday. Troops in the parade were 2/5th Gurkha Rifles and the 30th Field Battery, Royal Regiment of Artillery. Bands, Indian, Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. A royal salute was fired and the Commander-in-Chief 34 (VX20321, VX80578) Lieutenant General Horace Clement Hugh Robertson CBE DSO, took the general salute and march past. Before the royal salute and march past the C-in-C pinned the OBE on Colonel Watter C Lathmore of US Forces and the DSO on Lieutenant Colonel Frank Leonard Bock, US Forces. After the parade a garden party was held at the UK Mission. Among the many high ranking guests were Mr A D F Gascoigne CMG, UK Liaison Mission; Lieutenant General Derevyanko, Soviet Representative, General Pechkoff, France, General Chang, China, General R L Eichelberger, US, General D MacArthur and Mrs MacArthur.
