Description

Troops and vehicle moved into positions on the south bank of the Dong Nai River early morning and throughout the day directed their fire at preplanned targets across the river in war zone 'D', which the Viet Cong had dominated for the last six years. 81mm mortars of 1st Battalion RAR were supported by .50 calibre machine guns mounted on APCS of 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse and 90mm anti-tank guns of the US 173rd Airborne Bde. The firepower group met no resistance during the action and returned safely to base.
