C.G.S. (Lt Gen T.J. Daly) visits troops in Vietnam. DPR/TV/440
The Australian Army Chief of General Staff (CGS), Lieutenant General T J Daly visited Australian troops in operational areas in South Vietnam. The Commander, US Military Assistance Command, General Westmoreland and the Australian Force Commander, Major General Kenneth Mackay, briefed the CGS at General Westmoreland's Headquarters on the latest military situation on his arrival in Saigon, before he left by helicopter for the Australian Task Force operational area. This was General Daly's first visit to Vietnam since becoming CGS in May. He visited gunners of the 1st Australian Field Regiment, accompanied by Brigadier O D Jackson, troops of the 5th and 6th Battalions, RAR, and 1st Logistic Support area at Vung Tau. In this area is the casualty clearing station. The CGS spoke with patients in the CCS, he also spoke with army mechanics and inspected the vehicle park.
