Concert party [Lucky Starr] Vietnam DPR/TV/534
A concert party headed by Australian entertainer Lucky Starr entertained troops of the 1st Australian Task Force camp at Nui Dat South Vietnam. The group, spending its second Christmas in Vietnam gave two concerts for the troops on Boxing Day. Each performance was attended by at least 500 Australian soldiers. Sydney Comedian Terry Scanlon gave the show a breezy start and was followed by New Zealand Singer Sheryl Blake. Music was supplied by the Rajahs, a popular instrumental trio; Leon Isaacson, Drummer; Mike Lawler, Bass; and John Hayton, Guitarist. Lucky Starr handed over the first batch of films of current Australian TV shows to Major Ron Hamlyn for screening to troops of the task force in Vietnam. Earlier the concert party had given concerts in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Their tour was sponsored by the Australian Forces Over Seas Fund.
