7 Battalion RAR advance party arrive Nui Dat DPR/TV/598
Description
First elements of 7th Battalion RAR arrive at Luscombe airfield, Nui Dat from their former station, Puckapunyal, Victoria. They were ferried on the final leg of their journey from Saigon to Nui Dat by RAAF Caribou transport aircraft. The CO Battalion, Lieut-Colonel Eric Smith was greeted by the CO.of 5th Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel John Warr, as troops unloaded equipment. The bulk of 7th Battalion RAR left Australia in the troop carrier HMAS Sydney on 8 April 1967 The battalion is relieving 5th and 6th Battalions. Face study of Lance Corporal Ian Downie.
