F-111, the first flight (Sentinel series)
Description
Trainee pilots and navigators undergo an intensive training course where they will learn "the mysteries of the swing wing", before they are allowed to operate the supersonic F-111 strike aircraft for the first time. Shows some of the students on their first flight in a F-111.
Scenes include shots of lecture room, workshop, interior of cockpit, operation of the swing wing, 'leisure time' with cigarette smoking and a home -made board game and playing darts; mission planning; locker room for flying kit; crew preparing for their first flight; F-111 moving along runway; ; airc raft takeoff; airborne; post flight interviews beside the aircraft.
